Dear Colleague,
Further to our last Email, there is still time to register for the 20th and 21st Advanced Military Course on LOAC. These 2 courses running in parallel are conducted in English and French with interaction between the two courses during the week and 1 full day of joint translated lectures from guest speakers including eminent IHL academics: Professor Yoram Dinstein and Professor Francois Hampson.
The final programme for both courses is being finalised and will be up-loaded in the next few days.

These courses provide a practical and contemporaneous consideration, at an advanced level, of IHL issues with a particular focus on those impacting on interoperability in multinational operations.
Course Approach
Each course is broken into three phases:
Phase 1 : Review of the current issues defining the IHL paradigm;
Phase 2: Consideration of Current IHL Issues during Military Operations;
Phase 3: Examination of transitional Military Operations and the increasingly complex and sophisticated legal framework applicable to operations conducted in that context.
Why attend this course?
Our Advanced Course has recently been revised by our Teaching Advisory Group of Military lawyers, operators and academics to ensure it is fully up-to-date and relevant to today’s Operational Law Legal Advisor. The Teaching Staff and Facilitators are drawn from experienced senior military legal officers, leading academics practising in the field and experts from international organisations. Topics will be covered using a seminar-based approach to maximise the participant’s ability to find outcome-oriented solutions through the application of the relevant IHL provisions. The wide range of national and cultural experiences of the participants attending will ensure a superior understanding of the multinational challenge.
Who should attend?
This two-week long Course is a must for experienced military and civilian legal advisers and military officers and government officials with a need for an in-depth knowledge of IHL. Academics and students with an interest in developing a deeper understanding of the subject area are also welcome to attend.
Given the Advanced level of the course it is assumed that participants will already have a sound knowledge of IHL principles and rules and be able to apply these in a practical context.

Les Professeurs Yoram Dinstein et Francois Hampson font maintenant partie de la liste des orateurs confirmés.

Suite au mail infra, les 20ème et 21ème Cours Avancé sur le Droit des Conflits Armés sont toujours ouverts pour inscription. Ces deux cours, organisés en parallèle, sont conduits en Anglais et en Français et des interactions entre les deux auront lieu pendant la semaine. Une journée complete sera organisée en commun à l’occasion des interventions des éminents professeurs Yoram Dinstein et Francois Hampson.
Le programme définitif pour les deux cours est en cours de finalisation et sera mis en ligne dans les prochains jours.

Ces cours offrent un point de vue pratique et actuel sur des questions relevant du DIH, et ce, à un niveau avancé, avec un intérêt particulier sur les questions portant sur l’interopérabilité dans les opérations multinationales.
Chaque cours est séparé en trois phases:
Phase 1: Rappel des questions actuelles quant au paradigm qu’est le DIH
Phase 2: Etude des questions actuelles du DIH durant les operations militaires
Phase 3 : Examen d’opérations militaires transitoires et du cadre légal de plus en plus complexe et sophistiqué qui les entoure
Pourquoi participer à ce cours ?
Notre cours avancé a été récemment revu par notre personnel enseignant afin de le rendre plus en phase avec la période actuelle. Le corps d’enseignant est constitué de hauts officiers militaires, d’académiques spécialisés pratiquant sur le terrain et d’experts provenant d’organisations internationales. Les sujets seront traités au moyen de différents séminaires afin de maximiser les capacités du participant à trouver des solutions grâce aux outils offerts par le DIH. Les participants sont issus du monde entier et garantissent une formation unique ainsi qu’une compréhension supérieure du challenge multinational.
Qui devrait participer ?
Ce cours de deux semaines est conseillé à des juristes civils ou militaires aguerris, à des officiers militaires et aux hauts fonctionnaires ayant le désir d’approfondir leur connaissance sur le DIH. Les étudiants ou académiques ayant un vif intérêt pour ce domaine sont également les bienvenus.
En raison du caractère avancé de ces cours, il est attendu de la part des participants une connaissance préexistante du DIH et la possibilité d’appliquer en pratique cette connaissance.
